my least favorite type of hand all even cards. I kept mostly peggers with one 10 count card for pegging response of a 5 Although with the lead I have I may play off depending on what they lead

Kept the most offensive play here. More odds A-9 cuts here. After cut all I need is 2 more points. Dont think there is an easy lead to do 9 points pegging here (2 scoring plays) in the pegging, I suppose an noncut maybe 3 points between hands might have made me a little nervous. dec

The ubiquitous all even hand....life not always fair..there is one more odd card in the deck than an even which may help gain a few pegs...I am going for the long shot and throw the 2 & 8

I'm sure we are not unique, but at our grassroots, we call this the cheerleader hand, 2-4-6-8, who do we appreciate? and we hope for the odd cut card. I do see the logic of tossing 8-10 here in the crib. Perhaps I have a cheerleader obsession.

Looks like I'm pretty much alone here. I do not think that pone is going out now or pegging out next deal. (Really going out on a limb, eh?) But I almost assuredly will -- even with this miserable collection of cards. So I simply tucked away the best crib I could. Curious to see if the pegging advantages extolled here really put those choices clearly on top. As always, thanks for all the comments.

I'll put the best two cards I can in the box and hope for a 3 cut. I don't think pone is going out next time either so we should be all right. At least I have a guaranteed 4pts with the 9 turn-up but look as if I would have been better off to keep the 8-10 together. Oh well! 8-(

I am a little surprised that so many of you chose to put 10-K in your own crib. Getting 9 in three counts maybe almost a lock but almost loses a lot of cribbage games. Put in the 8-6. You are much more likely to get help.

I think this hand would be more interesting to discuss if the person who submitted it would have made us as pone. Or was that the intention with this problem. Throw 6-8 if your crib and 10-K if it is their crib.

2-4-6-K represents best keep and 8-10 suited is considerablly better than 10-K to own crib. With opponent so far out of the game, will take every peg possible as the play unfolds.

Playing a Defense strategy the expected averages and Win %'s are:

DEFENSE----Hand--Pegs---Crib-Total--W1 %---W2 %
2-4-10-K___2.00+(-2.22)+4.84=4.62___44.3___97.3
2-4-6-K____2.43+(-2.00)+3.95=4.38___45.1___98.0
6-8-10-K___1.91+(-2.17)+4.55=4.29___44.8___97.6
4-6-8-10___2.52+(-2.22)+3.52=3.82___42.0___97.3
2-4-6-8____3.04+(-2.11)+2.81=3.74___42.7___97.0
2-6-8-10___2.26+(-2.13)+3.04=3.72___39.6___97.4
2-4-6-10___2.43+(-2.04)+3.11=3.66___37.9___97.5
4-6-8-K____2.26+(-2.26)+3.26=3.59___38.6___97.2

The best discard for Win %'s and second best for dynamic expected averages is 8-10 so I will select the keep 2-4-6-K.

After the 9 cut I will play off to the lead.

Why throw yourself K - 10? Give your crib a chance.
