The flush of 2-3-5-7.
Every cut bar 9c,9s and 9h is helpful. 3-2 combo might bring 15/2. 2-8 to my opponent is weakened by the cards in my hand being out of circulation: 2-2 pair, 2-3 combo, 2-5-8 and 7-8 sixteens are all less likely to occur in the crib, since a crucial card is unavailable to them. I have the advantage that UK time is 5 hours ahead of New York time, so it's a comfortable 11am updating of each puzzle here. fentesk says: Wow, only one discard decision different (Hand 6 I sent A-2) and I somehow managed to lose 120-121. My pegging must have been atrocious even with a Cribbage Pro "Hand Grade" of 100. Nice work with the near skunk today. |

No shortage of options today. I think it's more likely opp is -13 over the next 5 deals than it is that we are +20 to make up this sizable hole we've dug. This tips the scales ever so slightly to this hold over Sally's proposed 3-5-7-8.
Interesting Daily Scrimmage today, felt pretty safe until the final hand. I found Hand 4 the most intriguing from 58-34*. Wordle 1,549 4/6* ⬛⬛⬛🟨🟨 ⬛🟨🟨⬛⬛ 🟨🟨🟨🟩⬛ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 james500 says: Hi, hope you had a pleasant weekend. You say that you found hand 4 intriguing, what did you eventually choose? What ideas did you consider? 2c-4d-8d-8h-9d-Kd for those who don't know. tevdodd says: 4-K, 2-K, and of course 2-8. Ultimately I settled on 4-K (Which Crib Pro HATED), maybe I got a little greedy, but within 12 of positional hole, and no way to hold more than 4 to start, I figured the 2 pt sacrifice on the front end was worth the potential of 12 to reach 70 in this hand. Also, 4-K suited is still a better pone discard than 2-8. |

We need a hand here but we also need to limit dealers crib since he has a pretty good lead on us heading onto 3rd street-the 2357 flush shouid yield us at least 10 points and the 28 discard is as defensive as we can get with this configuration Eolus619 says: Morning Rob..just tagging on here to post Ras’s lowest average balk list in case new players have not seen it ..2-8 is on it❗️

I’m keeping the 8 points and hoping that cards in hand take enough options out of circulation for crib |

Every cut adds something except the 9. 2-8 best defense with this assortment of cards. |

In deciding to keep the flush I like throwing the 2’s. Every cut but a nine helps my hand. Yes I’m giving away two points, but I feel like the 2-3 also gives away two points with the possibility of a bit more being open ended as well as being a “5”. |

James500 spoke on behalf of us both today..thx❗️ Eolus619 says: On Friday I posted a Rob M puzzle from ACC Facebook..said I would post his discard today.. he held A-A-3-4-6-6..99*-104
Rob tossed the 6s…his reasons “I figured the percentages were favoring a picture cut-especially when my 6 cards didn’t have a face card-that would give me 8 points with a good shot to peg 3 with my aces, as well as the 66 stashed in the crib-alas it was a 4 cut ,giving me 4 and a 2 point crib-I then needed 12 with first count next hand and could only muster 6
Inushtuk1 says: Hi Bruce. I'd want to keep the 4 sure points, plus another two in the Crib. 3-4-6-6(A-A). I still have the gut shot for the double run; and a more powerful one at that. Eolus619 says: Mike..The As were a frequent discard on facebook ..more disagreed with Rob than I would have thought |

Any face card yields 10 and 28 usually a good balk as long as the dealer doesn't throw 67 or 55. Jazzselke says: Meant to keep 2357. |

Thanks all! This hand had me getting dizzy, esp since I was playing Mr Crete. My logic was the same as Mike Crume's.I ended up with a face card diamond cut.

I like the 3-5-7 combo most of the time and the 2 gives us a few chances at a run or, in this case, an extra 15.

I prefer this hold because I hate throwing an 8 to the pones crib that much. Eolus619 says: Morning Sgt…fyi..2-7 and 2-8 both average 4.81 on Ras’s lowest average balk discard list

No need to throw the 2s together to secure a higher score for myself with 3-5-7-8. Every card scores for us except for 6 and 9. Especially looking at a X cut and seeing this turn into a 10 point hand.
First, push farther down the board to make up our point deficit, and then put more emphasis on getting a favorable board position coming down 3rd street. BennieO says: My scrimmage today:

We need to catch up, but putting points from a pair into Dealer's crib just seems wrong. Without the flush option, the 3-7 is going. With the flush option, the 2-8 is best and leaves a better pegger than the 2-2 pitch. |

At 40-56* playing an Offense strategy for the pegging the dynamic expected average and Win/Loss %s are:
________________Our Offense___Hand__Pegs_Crib____Total___W4 %___W5 % 2D-3-5-7___10.17+2.30+(-4.18)=8.29____0.3____4.8 2D-3-5-8____9.65+2.00+(-4.23)=7.42____0.3____4.3 3-5-7-8____11.17+1.59+(-5.86)=6.90____0.3____4.8 Offense______L4 %___L5 % 2D-3-5-7______6.8____49.8 2D-3-5-8______7.1____50.9 3-5-7-8_______9.5____56.0 2D-3-5-7 is best for expected averages by 0.87pt. and is slightly best for Win %s and lowest for Loss %s. So I'll select the 2H-8 to discard. After the Q cut I'll lead the 2 and play Offense: Lead_________________Our Pegging Points 2___________________________2.33 3___________________________1.92 7___________________________1.61 5___________________________1.32 |
