I saw five different discards made so far. Not a fan of 8-8 or 9-J. So I go wide this way keeping the seven or ten cut to boost hand. The eight to me is a less dangerous way for at least getting some peg movement here. dec |

trying it this way. Lead the 8 and peg. |

It was either 8-J or 6-J to dealer for me. Only 4 cuts keep this hand at 2 points - Three's. |

No great options but this seems the least helpful to their crib.

Not giving up a good discard to opponent’s crib with these cards. Keep the “touchers” with the 5 and toss the more defensive 6-J. |

0-0* is not Desperation Offense time. As JQT has said many times, "Don't stare at your cards for 10 seconds, and then send your best two cards over the board; unless you have a very good reason, such as this being possibly the last hand of the game." There's lots of time to make up our deficit. Like Rosemarie said, only the (3333) miss this hand. |

Taking the known 4 with cuts to 8+ from 6/13 ranks. Following the A cut I'll lead the 6. ryman554 says: You're sending J5 to the dealers crib? tevdodd says: In this individual instance, yes. |

Any cut but the 3 helps. Tally ho! |

It aint pretty but no keeps are worth tossing points to opponent’s crib. This keep still has shots at 8 points. First hand of the game, so make up board position deficits other rounds.

This keep makes the most overall sense to me. A,2,4,5,6,7,8.9 & any ten helps. |

Only the cut of a 3 is unhelpful to me.
Little synergy between Jack and 8. The 5 and 8 in my hand directly reduce the number of immediately friendly cards in circulation, the 9 makes it harder for an 8-9-10-J run to come into existence. At 0-0* playing an Offense strategy for the pegging the dynamic expected averages and Win/Loss %s are:
_______________Our Offense___Hand_Pegs_Crib____Total___W9 %____W10 % 5-6-8-9____5.22+1.91+(-4.27)=2.86____21.2____21.0 5-8-8-9____5.13+1.85+(-4.21)=2.77____22.5____22.1 5-6-9-J____6.93+1.65+(-5.96)=2.62____24.9____21.2 Offense______L9 %____L10 % 5-6-8-9_______37.2____52.6 5-8-8-9_______36.2____51.0 5-6-9-J_______41.6____53.9 5-6-8-9 is best for expected averages by 0.09pt. over 5-8-8-9. Although 5-6-9-J is best for Win %s, 5-8-8-9 is second best for expected averages, second best for Win %s and lowest for Loss %s. So, I'll select the 6-J to discard. After the A cut I'll lead an 8 and play Offense: Lead__________Our Pegging Points 8____________________1.68 5____________________1.67 9____________________1.11 |
