Gougie00Interesting hand. Toss 2-3, 6-10 or something else?

Don’t see any other viable options here-6-10 to our own crib-that’s gonna be a hard no for me

max starting points, puts a 2-3 in the crib and improves on every cut. Works for me. Interesting hand because the last cut we want to see at this point is a 5.

Puts a smile on my face when my hand grade is a 53 and I'm ok with it :)

Tall Troy says: Why don't you want a 5 cut?
Tall Troy says: What did you lead on your hand with the 53 grade and why if I might ask?
tevdodd says: K, if I recall correctly it matched the cut card then was paired.
fentesk says: I don't know what I was doing on the last hand, but I sure found a way to lose the skunk. I should lose points for that debacle.
tevdodd says: I came into last hand with opp at 89, but after a 0-7 peg, here I was.
tevdodd says: 5 doesn't play overly well with the 2-3 in crib knowing we're holding 6-7-8. With only 1 X card it's likely to help the opp far more than us with this hand.
Tall Troy says: You recalled correctly about matching the cut card. If the cut card was a number and you're holding the same four cards (TJQK), how do you decide what to lead? Now I understand about the 5.

2-3 is known to be really good, but 3-10 and 6-7 were also tempting. Interesting puzzle.

I messed up hand #3, (2-2-4-5-10-10), as I thought I was Pone. Other than that though, quite straightforward today.

2-3 too powerful in the crib to pass up here.

Classic Big Hand Rule here. I'm playing Defense. The 2-3 are the cards most likely to be trapped so away they go. Maybe 2-3-8-10(6-7) with the flush if on Offrense.
Inushtuk1 says: Looking further at this hand; I think i would need at least a static 9 points in my hand to keep the flush. Except for 3-6-8-10(7-8). Change that 6d to a 6c, and the hand changes dramatically.
Inushtuk1 says: Of course I meant the flush of 3-6-8-10(7-8). And of course if all six cards were suited, then 6-7-8-10)(2-3) would be even *better*. What I was referring to was, if we could keep the flush of 2-3-6-10(7-8), or even better, the flush of 2-6-7-8(3-10). There are probably a few more possible flushes where the (2-3) is not mathematically correct. The point being that they need the 6 in amongst the other three cards that comprise the flush; and alas that is not in the cards today.

Boost the crib with 2-3. Keeping 6-7 in hand is the 5 trap.

At 40*-32 playing an Offense strategy for the pegging the dynamic expected averages and Win/Loss %s are:

________________Our
Offense____Hand_Pegs_Crib_Total____W6 %____W7 %
6-7-8-10____7.28+3.17+6.97=17.42____37.4____57.3
2-3-8-10____9.17+3.13+4.53=16.83____35.5____55.9
2-3-7-10____8.87+3.11+4.41=16.39____33.9____54.2
2-6-7-8_____9.46+3.26+3.38=16.10____33.5____54.3
2-3-7-8_____9.50+3.41+3.08=15.99____32.0____51.6

Offense________L6 %____L7 %
6-7-8-10________14.8____25.5
2-3-8-10________14.7____26.2
2-3-7-10________15.0____27.3
2-6-7-8_________14.4____26.7
2-3-7-8_________16.2____29.5

6-7-8-10 is best for expected averages by 0.59pt. and is appreciably best for Win %s and slightly lowest for Loss %s. So, I'll select the 2-3 to discard.

After the 2 cut I'll play Defense to the lead.
