The cut of 6d has given me the whole eight points I need, so I don't need to worry about a pegging strategy. 5 lead.

Chose to toss T-J as this hand only has one cut that doesn't add value to the hand. Also 16 cuts increase hand to 8/10 points.

Might be wrong I also kept a chance that if I do not get in this hand will have a possibility of playing pegging out durng next hand. Will see what that bot references as the best shot. dec

I kept the cluster just in case of a middle card and because its better for pegging. Since I nailed the cut, I'll lead the 7 and play off.

Only a Ace and four doesn't get me at least 6 points and I retain the chance for nobs. Also, don't like throwing the 10-J as the dealer is not necessarily going out on this deal. I don't want to help them.

I'm trying to increase my chance to peg out next deal by not tossing 10 J

I chose to try and show out this hand. This choice has the highest average hand. See Rosemarie44's post. I'm not interested in expected averages at this point. If I fall short, it seems like it will peg about as well offensively as any of the other options.

A most fortuitous cut. Lead the safer 3. Dump the 5 next time on anything that seems reasonably safe. If Dealer drops an X-card it's sayonara to my 5. Dealer can pair it for all I care. Good riddance.
Ras2829 says: Hi Inushtuk1: That 6d was a fortuitous cut for any of the top four selections as all have 8 points. Even those who held 5-7-10-J matched the Jack for the extra point. A lot of folks must be dancing in the street about this time!
Inushtuk1 says: I see you strutting your stuff there. Say; for a guy pushing 80; you got some mighty fine moves. ; - )

I discarded the 3 and J. Thought that left me with lots of possibilities. It did pay off.

In this position I think we just need to hold the hand most likely to score and peg 8pts. I think 3-5-7-8 fits the bill well:

3-5-7-8: Improbes with 2222, 333, 4444, 555, 6666, 888, 9999 + 14xXs = 39 cuts = 39/46 = 84.8% and 333, 4444, 555, 6666, 888 = 17 cuts score 8pts or more and the remaining 22 6/7pts needing to peg 1/2pts.

At 113-105* playing a Bold strategy the Win/Loss %s are:

Offense______Win %_____Loss %
3-5-7-8______84.8______15.2
5-7-8-J______80.2______19.8
5-7-8-10_____77.7______22.3
3-5-10-J_____77.5______22.5
3-5-7-J______75.1______24.9
5-7-10-J_____72.6______27.4
3-5-7-10_____71.4______28.6
5-8-10-J_____67.5______32.5
3-5-8-10_____43.4______36.6
3-5-8-J______41.0______35.1
7-8-10-J_____36.3______53.6
3-7-8-10_____30.5______60.6
3-7-8-J______29.7______60.5
3-7-10-J______7.9______46.9
3-8-10-J______5.4______51.9

3-5-7-8 is best for Win %s and Loss %s so I'll select 10-J to discard.

After the 6 cut I'll lead the 7 and play Optimally (cautious offense):

Lead___________Net Pegging Pts.____Win %
7__________________(-1.43)_________100.0
8__________________(-1.48)_________100.0
3__________________(-1.73)_________100.0
5__________________(-2.65)_________100.0

Late getting on and it's all be said by Rosemarie44, Gougie00, Inushtuk1, Coeurdelion, and HalscribCLX. Although retaining cards with offense in mind, se no reason to take pegs after seeing the starter card. At that point my strategy shifts to defense. Like the 7 lead as it splits the upper portion of the hand, puts some air between the 5-8, and allows me to escape with the trey. After knowing that I am out with first count, don't see any advantage to pegging. A willingness to peg often reduces the spread point margin. So I will avoid pegs and attempt to give the dealer that guaranteed "go". With a mere four points going in, think it is hard to argue with those who opted to retain the Jack, worth a potential point if matching suit of starter card. Those who held 5-7-10-J got the 8 points too!
Ras2829 says: If the cut had not given the desired 8 points, retaining the cards with pegging value (tossing the X-pointers) can put a game which appears lost in the win column. If cut had been an Ace or a card that gave me no more than six points, would have led the trey keeping 5-7-8 intact. In this position, dealer is not going to play on my lead; so better to hold the upper portion of the hand intact for later opportunity. The trey lead often draws an 8 in response and that would give me two pegs as starters. Beyond that if hand is not of sufficient value to count out, dealer may not score 16. What are chances of limiting dealer to 14 points? That's about a 30% chance - so want to be prepared for all options.

Kept these four card in the meat of the deck, hopefully we snag a few points to go with the 15-2 15-4.
