Kept the 445 together. Tossed wide as I could. |

We're ahead. Keeping the straight shot while hopefully balking the crib a little. |

Not many options so toss the bookends and hope for a cut. Sgt Pegger says: Shotgun! |

2-7 isn't the worst discard here if you are wary of getting caught in the pegging, but 2-9 is preferrable for many reasons |

I'm keeping both 5s, I don't see a good reason to send one to dealer. Then I will keep the 4-5-5 together, so two of the 2, 7, and 9 are gone.
There is a four-card 16 with 2-4-5-5, but then I'm tossing 7-9 which probably has the highest chance of letting dealer back in the game if it catches a 7-8 dealer discard, so I'll go wide with the 2-9 and keep the 7. I am tempted to keep some more room in the hand for pegging with the 2-7, but see the 2-9 as safer. |

I want to keep the 4-5-5 together. Then pondered what doesn't fit. The 2 is gone. Then the 9. |

Go wide and minimize risk. Every cut helps (some more than others). Lead the 4 I suppose. Eolus619 says: Morning Assman..just a courteous fyi…deuce and nine do not help .thx for continuing to post and share your thoughts

2-7, 2-9, 4-9, 7-9? I will be the maverick again and keep the best pegger. MarktheShark says: HalscribCLX agrees the 7-9 pitch leaves the best pegger and average hand scores, by almost a full hole. It still chooses the popular 2-9 pitch for Win/Loss % which I cannot disagree with, because I do not understand its methodology. I am a card player and will rely on my pegging skills to defend or attack. |

N/der is 16 points ahead in relative score and already six points into CPZ #3..so Rob’s increasingly famous cribbage theorem applies..” Do not over think this “ Eolus619 says: a fyi…both 2-7 & 2-9 are on Ras’s best n/der balking discard list for averaging under five across the board & fyi again..the reason 7-9 is vulnerable to crib points is dealer frequently sending
7/8..6/9..6/7..6/8..8/9..7/9..8/8
https://www.cribbage.org/NewSite/tips/rasmussen7.asp MarktheShark says: Risky 7-9, yes, but recognize that most of those frequent dealer pitches will inflate the score for those "balking" discards, as well. Eolus619 says: Thx Mark.always good to have your added perspective |

To me this is more of a no brainer. Even if I don't get a cut, and peg zero; I'm still dealing well past the 3rd Street CPZ, and Dealaer would need to score 25 here to be within 10 of the 4th Street CPZ. Lead the 4 and try to dump a 5 as second card if it looks reasonably safe. |

Only the cut of a 7 is unhelpful, and there's only three of them left in circulation. Lead the 2. |

At 76-60* playing a Defense strategy the dynamic expected averages and Win/Loss %s are:
_______________Dlr's Defense___Hand_Pegs____Crib____Total_____W3 %___W4 % 2-4-5-5____6.57+(-2.78)+(-4.88)=(-1.09)___10.5___63.0 2-5-5-7____6.00+(-3.26)+(-4.29)=(-1.55)____7.7___61.1 4-5-5-7____6.30+(-3.67)+(-4.42)=(-1.79)___21.5___67.8 4-5-5-9____6.13+(-3.33)+(-4.60)=(-1.80)____8.9___61.3 Defense________L3 %___L4 % 2-4-5-5_________2.1____13.1 2-5-5-7_________1.2____11.5 4-5-5-7_________1.3____10.4 4-5-5-9_________1.3____11.9 2-4-5-5 is best for expected averages but 4-5-5-7 is considerably best for Win %s and lowest for Loss %s. As we're at a critical board position I'll decide based on Win/Loss %s and select 2-9 to discard. After the K cut I'll lead the 4 and play Defense: Lead_________Dealer's Pegging Points 4____________________(-2.51) 5____________________(-3.04) 7____________________(-3.60) |
