I expect 2-8 or even 3-J to be much more popular, but I strongly prefer pegging hands. Unhappy with the cut. Lead the 3. |

As Pone tied at Hole 58, we need a Dozen Points to become the Next Dealer at the Third Street Par Hole 70.
Keep (3 5 5 J) and Toss (2 8) stood out first among those three hands that begin with Six Points, the other two being Keep (3h 5h 8h Jh) and Toss (2d 5d), and Keep (2 5 5 8) and Toss (3 J). But we also have an interesting choice in Keep (2 3 5 5) and Toss (8 J), which is likely the safest among all discards, and which could grow to become Fourteen Points after a 5 Card Cut! Ironically perhaps is that all of the aforementioned hands EXCEPT THE FLUSH could also become Fourteen Points (the FLUSH can only manage to squeak out Thirteen Points after a 4h Card Cut). In the end, I'll go with my initial thought and Toss (2 8) today. After the 6c Cut Card, we still have just Six Points, but nobody's happy after that cut! Lead the Jack. Or a Trey. Or a 5 Card! โฐ Rosemarie44 says: Hi - As you suggested, I started with season 1, episode 1 and have reached episode 30. so far. I am excited to tell you that I am enjoying the ride. Not to be redundant, I like starting with 6 points. This hand has the potential to increase to 10, 12, or 14 points. Pass on the Flush! |

A ton of cuts to get to at least 10.with the added bonus of throwing 2-8 while holding 2 fives-whatโs not to like? |

The possible extra point for A Jack along with all the cuts that add big to this hand. dec Eolus619 says: Hello dec..I see you are now rated #10 and Mike Fetch #1 on ecribbage for non- ACC games ..congrats to you bothโฆDCH is well represented โ๏ธโ๏ธ๐๐๐๐๐ฅ๐ฅ

Keeping 6 points to start with good potential for more. Also 82 in crib while holding 2 5s seems safe enough. |

Pegging and numbers may dictate the throw of (8 J), but since I have an aversion to throwing J's, I prefer to start with 6 and throw the 10(8 + 2) combo while holding onto my 5's. No flush today either. After the completely unhelpful cut, I'll start by leading my J and peg optimally. MiketheExpert says: I also like leading the three, so possibly different strokes on different days. |

I didn't like the flush bc I don't throw 5s to the crib willy nilly. Keeping the fives negates the flush option. I suppose I could have considered toss 3-J but that only takes a 2 finding its way to the crib for bad news. I like it this way best, lead the 3. |

I've heard it said that combinations of cards that sum to 10 should be safe-ish to discard. I've also heard it said that discards of two even cards are safer than discards that include an odd card. 2-8 for me then. |

I was torn between throwing 2 8 and 3 J. Am not convinced this was the right choice even though itโs more popular. |

At 58-58* playing a Defense strategy for the pegging the dynamic expected averages and Win/Loss %s are:
_______________Dlr's Defense___Hand_Pegs____Crib____Total___W4 %____W5 % 3-5-5-J____9.24+(-3.20)+(-4.42)=1.62____12.5____42.8 2-3-5-5____8.48+(-3.04)+(-4.34)=1.10____12.8____42.9 2-5-5-8____8.74+(-3.35)+(-4.41)=0.98____10.5____39.0 2-5-5-J____8.63+(-3.13)+(-4.63)=0.87____10.8____39.7 Defense______L4 %____L5 % 3-5-5-J_______9.2_____29.3 2-3-5-5_______9.1_____29.4 2-5-5-8_______9.3_____32.3 2-5-5-J_______9.5_____32.0 3-5-5-J is best for expected averages by 0.52pt. and although 2-3-5-5 is very slightly best for Win %s and even for Loss %s I'll still select 2-8 to discard. After the 6 cut I'll lead the 5H and play Offense: Lead___________Our Pegging Points 5______________________1.45 J______________________1.33 3______________________1.14 |
