We are once again the Dealer, but today we are on Second Street, and we're not only Nine Holes 'shy' of our Opponent, we are also Nine Holes 'shy' of the Second Street Par Hole 44. š¦Ø
This means that if we gain Nine Points above the Average Dealer, which would require a total of Twenty-Five Points, and if our Opponent gets Zero Points, after all of this, we might have an equal chance of winning the game! And so, we are in pretty bad shape here. š„¶ We can either Toss (A 4) or Toss (A 8), but we probably shouldn't risk Toss (5 5), as we may end up with just Two Points in our Hand, and Two Points in our Crib! š„ Let's Toss (A 4) today, and not "go fishing" for points that may or may not ever materialize. We could be in a struggle to avert a SKUNK here, or we might have a slim chance of getting back in this game, and Toss (A 4) is best for both potential outcomes. š£ After the Ace Cut, while we still have just Six Points in our Hand, our Crib might be energized up to a Dozen Points. š§ |

Let's keep y points to start and toss A-4 in our crib. That's all I see with these cards. Rosemarie44 says: 6 points. Haven't had coffee yet. Rosemarie44 says: OOPS!

Too early to go for the bingo 6 cut here-a picture could net us 10 and 6-8 in the crib |

If I learned anything that its to early to go for a home run here . One again my attitude is to use all three phases of the game. Besides fourteen potential in main and at least two in the crib are possible. dec |

I will toss myself A4 as well. Nice bonus today.

Strange board position ... very bad cards or very good cards this game? Pitching 5-5 cannot be right, so it is a tossup between A-4 and A-8 for me. A-4 in the crib is worth at least a couple meld points; 4-5-5 in my hand can explode in value with a good cut. Seeing only one face card, A-4 might be better. But, I will gamble early and try to surge ahead from this position. With the Ace cut, I have 10 in hand and at least 2 in the crib along with good chances for several pegs in the play. |

For those of you who discarded A-8, fine by me. I do suggest you have an understanding of Rasās BIG/small hand rules as well as his ā approvedā list of dealer discards when sacrificing two or four points. Here is his class link..week 2 part 6A...addresses above subjectsā¦ https://vashoncribbage.weebly.com/strategy.html
AND here is his chart for the discards ..FWIW A-8 is not on it .. but again the beauty of cribbage is choice ! https://vashoncribbage.weebly.com/uploads/5/6/7/4/56741021/chart_11.pdf Eolus619 says: Again, I respect the choice of A-8. AND I realize board position, the six dealt cards and choice of strategy are the primary influencers of dealer discard choice. But it is good to understand Rasās list of the 46 lowest balking discards tossed by n/der. There are 46 combinations on it and 33 of them involve an āXā. Todayā¦Having seen no Xsā¦35% of the remaining deck is available for a cut or crib discard to add points.

Iām not sure what I was thinkingā¦. james500 says: Hi. For what it's worth, I might've been tempted by this if we weren't dealing. RubyTuesday says: I thought of doing this, then realised I was dealer. Assman says: Thank you for the comments. I thought I was non dealer so it was a bit embarrassing when I went back and looked. |

I agree with the majority of the commenters. It's too late to chase the 6 cut. I would go for it on 4th Street though. Inushtuk1 says: Of course I *meant* to say, "It's too *early* to chase the 6 cut." |

SallyAnn3 says: For those of you who are Jeopardy fans, a contestant who played last night is an ACC member. Hannah Wilson from Chicago, and The Jazzmann knows her :) She was on for a while during her regular season play. Gougie00 says: Doesnt really surprise me. People good at cribbage tend to be good at games like Chess, Bridge and Backgammon as well. Stands to reason they would be good at Jeopardy. |

Iād have liked to keep the 4 with the 5s, but A 4 in my was too attractive. |

At 35*-44 playing an Offense strategy for the pegging the dynamic expected averages and Win/Loss %s are:
_______________Our Offense___Hand_Pegs_Crib_Total____W6 %____W7 % 5-5-8-Q____8.43+3.15+5.22=16.80____20.4____15.1 4-5-5-Q____9.57+3.33+3.66=16.56____20.1____14.0 A-4-5D-Q___7.09+3.54+5.49=16.12____18.9____13.2 A-4-8-Q____4.22+2.98+8.62=15.82____18.6____13.5 A-5-5-Q____8.52+2.96+3.73=15.21____17.9____13.3 A-4-5-5____8.65+3.48+3.07=15.20____16.8____10.7 Offense_______L6 %____L7 % 5-5-8-Q________47.2____65.2 4-5-5-Q________48.7____66.5 A-4-5D-Q_______49.4____67.8 A-4-8-Q________48.0____67.1 A-5-5-Q________47.6____67.1 A-4-5-5________51.7____70.8 5-5-8-Q is best for expected averages by 0.24pt. and is slightly best for Win %s and lowest for Loss %s. So I'll select A-4 to discard. After the A cut I'll play Offense to the lead. Ras2829 says: The cribbot says it all for me this day. What more is there? |

Choosing A4 over A8. Liked that A8 left a chance (small) to catch a cut to build on 455, but itās early and didnāt feel need to be reaching. While the A4 toss leaves hand with same 6 points and thought chances were better in crib than A8 |

The day I posed this hand I think I tossed A8. I was reaching a bit too far then too but thought better of it today hahaha |
