I know that I am not tossing 6-8 to dealer. Also not sure if holding 2348 would be the better hand to hold in this position. Looking forward to comments forthcoming. |

This is a usual hold when trying to play defense and also get some pegs. Wide discard. Three lead. dec |

The A8 is pretty defensive and the 2346 has the potential for 12 with very good pegging power as well Eolus619 says: Morning Rob..what is you preferred lead here? |

I'm not going out this hand or getting close enough to expect to peg out next hand, so I'm playing defense. Without the benefit of looking at spreadsheets with % chance of a given discard to dealer scoring 0-4, I'd see A-6, A-8 as similar, and don't see any discards that are a step change more defensive even if willing to break up all offensive potential of the hand (maybe A-2?)
Between A-6 and A-8 I'm going to have at least three cards together (2-3-4) so I'm leaving as much space as I can and keeping the 8 instead of the 6. |

On Monday, we had this same arrangement as the Dealer, but here we are asked to find the best decision as Pone.
As I said on Monday: The cards that normally work best together are usually (2 3 4 6) or (2 3 4 8), as either of these can reach a Dozen Points in our Hand. These should also yield the safest Crib. The three-card Magic Eleven of 2-3-6 'clinches' it when we are Pone. Let's Toss (A 8) today. After the 7 Card Cut, let's lead the Trey and try to peg (15-2) followed by (31-2). 🍹 Rosemarie44 says: Thanks JQT. That's what I was looking for - 3-card magic eleven as pone. |

I'll also 3 lead from the 3-2-6 combo. |

I like it this way. Not psyched about the starter. Lead the 3. |

As Rob graciously pointed out me this past Monday ..
Colvert was not the answer to that puzzle based on board position…but today it seems to be to me .This is from Colvert’s Play Winning Cribbage page 57..The % Play..the Four-Card Run. “ As a general rule do not hold A-2-3-4. Hold A-2-3 with a lone 9-10-J-Q-K. Hold 2-3-4 with a lone 6 or 8. In addition, keeping a magic “11” and a “sleeper” will improve your pegging score. “ Eolus619 says: remember..two card magic 11 needed as dealer ..three card 11 as Pone |

I reeeeealllllly don't like tossing an 8 to the pones crib. Seems like it always hurts me. I will lead the 2 and suck that 5 right out of their hand. |

A top hold as pone, the 2-3-4-6 should peg very well |

The A-6 is a very underrated throw as far as defense in my opinion. |

2-3-4-6 is one of the very best offensive pegging holds for Pone, as I mentioned yesterday when Dealer held this hand. Lead the 3 and hope for the 15-2 followed by the 31-2. A reasonable cut will also turn this hold into a monster melding hand. BUT, and this is a very big BUT, Dealer is beyond his positional hole and has a good chance to go out in his three hands, so try to slow Dealer down. With this poor cut, unfortunately, we are in trouble and may need to play defense NOW. MarktheShark says: "... mentioned Monday when Dealer held this hand." |

At 99-98* playing an Offense strategy for the pegging the dynamic expected averages and Win/Loss %s are:
_______________Our Offense___Hand_Pegs_Crib____Total___W1 %___W2 % 2-3-4-6____8.52+2.26+(-4.37)=6.41____0.0____30.9 2-3-4-8____8.26+2.17+(-4.41)=6.02____0.0____30.8 A-2-3-4____8.13+1.96+(-5.39)=4.70____0.1____24.0 Offense______L1 %___L2 % 2-3-4-6_______7.0____59.7 2-3-4-8_______6.6____59.1 A-2-3-4______13.2____65.6 2-3-4-6 is best for expected averages by 0.39pt. and is very slightly best for Win %s and although 2-3-4-8 is slightly lower for Loss %s I'll still select A-8 to discard. After the 7 cut I'll lead the 4 and play Defense: Lead______Dealer's Pegging Points____Loss % 3__________________(-2.02)____________2.7 2__________________(-2.04)____________2.7 4__________________(-2.10)____________2.4 6__________________(-2.45)____________3.2 Although the 3 lead is lowest for Dealer's Pegging Points the Loss %s are slightly lowest for the 4 lead. |

It's a personal whim but I prefer A -6 in the box to A - 6. Less nasty big surprises that way. And looking at the score we don't want any nasty surprises. |

I'm more comfortable with a 6 over the 8 in their crib |
