Which four to keep? Four points with just a less wider in the crib. Might play the nine on a face lead ... maybe... dec |

I know that I am not tossing 5K to my crib and hold zero points. Both hand A59K and 258K start with 4 points and have the same number of cuts that improve the value. Cards that don't increase value of the hand, increase the potential value of 2/8 in our crib. |

Another Yuck Sandwich. I'll hold my 4 points and hope for the best. Gotta peg a little. |

On my own here on the ‘throw K 5 to my crib’ island. It’s an awful hand and I thought the 5 and K might find company in my crib and that I might get a run of three from the turn up. |

Holding Zero was probably not the wisest, but any card besides a face would have given me at least 2 and a face card gives the potential for a nice crib payout. |

Didn’t want to start the day with 0 pts in hand, so that ruled out K5. At that point 28 to crib seemed best. |

You can't make a 15 in the crib with just even cards. I'll try A-9 rather than 2-8, but I don't particularly like either.
8-9 caught my eye, but I can't justify reducing my hand by two points to make it. The two reasons that I tossed A-9 instead of 2-8 are to keep the dealer 16 in play and the expectation that help for A-9 seems to be more often given than for 2-8. scottcrib says: I wish comments could be edited. Oh well. Please ignore my lunatic ramblings above. james500 says: Hi Scott, hope all's well. You may have a point regarding the potential usefulness of the 5KA sixteen combo from A59K. Looking at the tables, my notion of odd card discards being better than even doesn't hold water either. A-9 = 3.40 average crib value, and 2-8 = 3.66. |

LOL has my island become a thing now? Gary kept it this way, so I feel validated. When I have junk, the 5 finds my crib, and hope for pegging.
RubyTuesday says: I spend my real life on a little island, so being there in DCH land with our K 5 throw feels like home. SallyAnn3 says: wonderful...want to reveal which one? and if it has beaches and is warm, then I am envious!

8 -2 in the box looks better than 9 -A |

Suited A, 9 to the crib seems like the best option to me. Aggressive pegging is the plan. Djgoat says: Hmmm, that's what I was thinking when I tossed 8-2 and kept the A-9 to make that magic 11 |

I prefer the A9 in my hand over 2-8 due to a slight edge in pegging flexibility-I will play the K on a 10 lead and hope to get the 31 with my ace,and saving my 5 for the next series |

Every cut except a picture card helps this dog's breakfast and the picture card will boost the crib.
May peg a bit with this keep as well. |

At 0*-0 playing a Defense strategy for the pegging the dynamic expected averages and Win/Loss %s are:
_______________Pone's Defense___Hand_Pegs____Crib_Total___W9 %____W10 % A-5-9-K____6.04+(-1.91)+3.64=7.77____30.6____44.5 A-2-5-K____4.48+(-1.65)+4.84=7.67____30.5____43.7 A-2-8-9____2.61+(-1.89)+6.67=7.39____29.3____42.6 2-5-8-K____6.04+(-2.15)+3.36=7.25____29.4____43.4 Defense______L9 %____L10 % A-5-9-K_______25.8____28.7 A-2-5-K_______26.9____29.7 A-2-8-9_______27.1____30.8 2-5-8-K_______25.9____29.6 A-5-9-K is best for expected averages by 0.10pt. and it is slightly best for Win %s and lowest for Loss %s. So I'll select the 2-8 to discard. After the K cut I'll play Defense to the lead. |

Much prefer touchers in the Crib than the weak (A-9), and (2-8). I like the Magic Eleven and Sixteen. Did Pone toss me (X-7)? This keep improves on most cuts. Those that fail help the Crib. With only 0.1 point difference I'll keep it this way even on Defense. On Offense Hal would probably give the (8-9) the nod.
