I'll bite and keep the two pairs and put a five in the crib. Looks like a reward with the statter card! Rosemarie44 says: "Starter" |

Kept the combined 6 with the 5 stowed away in the crib. Should be a pretty safe pegging hand as first dealer (safety in numbers). |

I'll try it this way. |

Nice suggestion today. 4-4, 4-5, 8-8, 5-9 I think all will see some love from the voting community today. Playing this hand live, I'm probably dumping the 8s, but giving myself a longer moment to think it thru this morning I really prefer the 4-5 discard. |

I'll keep 4 points +my dealer's go . The five will get me minimum 2 in the crib. A bit more in the crib and an extra peg or 2 might get me to the 10-12 hole. |

Seeding my crib to start. Could be a nice crop with the 3 cut. |

Giving up a combined 2 points, but much prefer 45 over 59. Also have an open double run in hand and open run in crib. Jazzselke says: Liam shows a difference of only .1 SallyAnn3 says: Great tournament, Dan O :) Jazzselke says: Thanks! |

4-4-8-8 (5-9) for 4+2 = 6 points seems good, but I'd like to try putting 4c-5 in my crib.

three points. Ace only bad cut before crib count. A few open end runs possibilities. Probably a defensive ploy on the pegging. dec |

I went with the 5 in my crib, and got a kabangi cut :) |

Dan speaks for me today. I prefer the 4,5 toss over any of the other options. |

I'm going to play it safe and take the 6 points. Who knows, maybe I'll get lucky and peg a few more. |

A very tough one for me. I went with the majority. I played the hand on Cribbage Pro, and the app says our choice was fifth best. It lists (4-5) suited first, (4-5) unsuited second, (4-4) third, (5-9) fourth. I'm interested in hearing from HalsCribCLX, and hopefully Ras will chime in as well. That 3 cut works for our hand; but with two 4's in my hand the Crib will often be just a disappointing 2 points. |

Even though 88 toss is clear majority, but not amongst commenters. |

4-4, 4-5, 5-9, 8-8? All are reasonable pitches. Despite what most of the commenters and Cribbage Discard Pro suggest, 8-8 seems very standard to me and Chambers. |

Similar to a recent RAS Puzzle, I prefer holding the Two PAIRS when we are the Dealer. š š
Let's Toss (5 9) today, as it gets the 5 Card into our Crib, and should peg a bit more defensively than most of the alternatives. šŖ š After the Trey Cut, we got the Bingo Kabangi Cut and we have a Dozen Points in our Hand, with prospects for a decent Crib. š¹ š„Ø scottcrib says: I responded to your message from yesterday. Looking for that stray random middle card from my opponent. |

So little in it. Three options. Throw 4-5 suited as my 5 is not doing a lot in my hand. I see Ras cut his usual reward card the three in this case. So he must think the 8-8 is better!! |

Thanks for all the comments today. This is a puzzle I could not convince myself there is a "best" answer for (or maybe better said, that I'd be able to calculate/demonstrate what the best answer is). Very much hoping the kind person behind the HalsCrib posts stops by with their/its calculation.
In the end, I chose the potentially more defensive two-pair hold today as first dealer but am very open to other options. |

Iām with the crowd of non-posters today, I wanted to keep 445 so had to throw 8 8. |

At 0*-0 playing a Defense strategy for the pegging the dynamic expected averages and Win/loss %s are:
_______________Pone's Defense___Hand_Pegs____Crib_Total___W9 %____W10 % 4-4-8-8____5.57+(-2.09)+5.46=8.94____32.7____47.1 4S-8-8-9___4.48+(-2.24)+6.59=8.83____33.3____46.6 5-8-8-9____5.22+(-2.11)+5.57=8.68____33.4____45.1 4-4-5-9____5.57+(-2.39)+5.26=8.44____33.7____45.9 Defense______L9 %____L10 % 4-4-8-8_______24.7____26.2 4S-8-8-9______26.0____26.9 5-8-8-9_______28.7____28.9 4-4-5-9_______27.4____27.9 4-4-8-8 is best for expected averages by 0.11pt. and although 4S-8-8-9is very slightly best for Win %s 4-4-8-8 is slightly lowest for Loss %s. So, I'll select 5-9 to discard. After the 3 cut I'll play Defense to the lead. fentesk says: As always, there values are greatly appreciated! |
