(3 5) is std dealer throw from this arr., although in some pegging situ I might Toss (T J).Β
Wordle 1,446 3/6 π¨β¬π©β¬π© π©β¬π©π©π© π©π©π©π©π© james500 says: Hi John, hope all's well. For what it's worth, my guesses to your, "bonus", puzzle yesterday were: RATIO, PLEAS, SHAVE, USAGE, ABASE JQT says: I went SIX WORDS DEEP! Can you believe: stare, phase, lease, using, comfy, abase! π Inushtuk1 says: Hi John. Could you take a look at June 2's puzzle. I asked you a question in Bruce's post. Thanks. JQT says: Yes, TYPO, as Pone I would Toss (A 2). Toss (2 3) only goes in our own Crib! π€© Inushtuk1 says: Nov 24, 2015, Ras said on Offense, he would toss (10-J), or (J-Q). But only those two X-X couplets. He then went on to say that in some configurations the (5-J) would be best. But I have no idea what he meant by that. Have you any idea what he meant there? And thanks for getting back on my earlier question. JQT says: If I can be so bold as to "Channel My Inner RAS" for a moment, and attempt to decipher what RAS was saying back on 24 Nov 2015: RAS correctly indicates that, for example at (70*-75), after being dealt (A 3 4 5 T J), while Toss (3 5) is the standard Dealer Discard in most scenarios, there are Offensive Pegging situations at many scores in which we should retain the four lower-ranking cards and Toss (T J), which meshes with today's June 4, 2025 puzzle discussion. However, at that same score, after being dealt (A 3 4 5 J K), now Toss (5 J) is the Dealer Discard that yields the greatest NET Offense! Even Toss (5 K) is now slightly superior to Toss (3 5); and incidentally, Toss (J K) is about equal to Toss (3 5)! This all has to do of course with the two X Cards that sit alongside the A-3-4-5, such that other than T-J and J-Q, any other "mix" of those two X Cards (J-K, T-Q, Q-K, or T-K) will alter the distribution of the top Offensive Discards. I think this was what RAS was describing back in 2015. Defensively, such as at (0*-0), Toss (3 5) however remains the best choice, regardless of the composition of those X Cards. πΎ π πΏ Inushtuk1 says: Thank you John. |

Myriad of options today, can't wait to see the result be 90/10 again. I went with the highest known points this morning.

JQT says: It helps to know that ABASE has been used already as a solution by Wordle, and per their policy (at least so far), it is to NOT re-use word solutions. Here is a good resource: https://www.fiveforks.com/wordle/ tevdodd says: That's ok, I think the game is more fun without a baseline cheat code. JQT says: I agree, but I apply this rule from memory (the word also showed up in Wordle Unlimited, which I believe sources its solutions from Used Wordle Solutions. I also don't use any web-based "tools" to rule in/out certain words (but these are handy if backtracking someone else's guesses!). |

Ok, I'll be on the island today. I liked the idea of tossing the A, 4 in the crib but keeping the flush A, 4, 10, J or 3, 4, 5, J were attractive as well |

3-5 stronger to crib vs A-5, so will forego the flush today and keep the β5β (A-4) intact along with the touching faces in my hand. |

Flush tempting with 2 open-ended 3 card run possibilities, but will go with the traditional 35 toss. Generally not crazy about A5. |

Looking for the double run. Keeping 5 doesnβt hurt either. |

I see the flush but tend to shy away from those that start with just four points. I have a guideline about tossing fives at the end of a three card run..most of the time I follow it ..and I post the link to one of Rasβs most valuable pieces of evidence..his best dealer discards table..3-5 second group..no A-5 to be found

Starting with a flush and twos sets of touchers in hand, thought 5 could aid the crib. |

Two key connectors in my Crib. Sign me up. Defense to the lead? Inushtuk1 says: The question mark at the end of my post is because sometimes I am disappointed with a 2 point Crib here. |

This keep improves with any cut. It also gives the crib a small chance at something as well. |

Somewhat frequently, Ras offers this type hand for analysis and he throws the 3-5. Like JQT, I would pitch T-J if I needed immediate pegging points the final hand. The flush option makes it more interesting, but not enough. |

In the minority with SP today. I like the pegging possibility and the improvement with every cut. Lots of ways to improve J 10 in the crib. |

I went for the most points.
Iβm becoming a fan of discarding Jacks to my crib. Any thoughts for or against that? Incidentally, Iβm tracking some basic data on my daily Cribbage Scrimmage. I hope I get something worthwhile for my efforts. Cribbage Pro Scrimmage 4th Jun 2025 πScore: 121 to 103 πSP: 1720 π Streak: 97 https://www.cribbagepro.net/scrimmage/508/6033095/1 MarktheShark says: The Jack is one of Ras's "key connector cards". Given the choice between pitching a Jack or a different X card to your crib, the Jack is more likely to help your crib. Between 345J and 345T, all the commenters pitched the Jack today, although the non-commenters (the majority voters) pitched the Ten. J.W.B. says: Thanks for the comments Mark. |

At 0*-0 playing a Defense strategy for the pegging the dynamic expected averages and Win/Loss %s are:@
________________Pone's Defense____Hand_Pegs____Crib_Total____W9 %____W10 % A-4-10-J____6.63+(-2.00)+5.78=10.41____36.7____50.5 3-4-10-J____6.93+(-2.39)+5.32= 9.86____36.3____49.8 3-5-10-J____6.83+(-2.28)+5.18= 9.73____35.3____48.3 A-3-4-10____4.72+(-2.04)+6.70= 9.38____34.3____46.8 A-3-4-J_____4.91+(-2.04)+6.48= 9.35____34.7____47.3 Defense________L9 %____L10 % A-4-10-J________25.3____23.7 3-4-10-J________25.9____24.5 3-5-10-J________27.0____26.1 A-3-4-10________27.8____27.5 A-3-4-J_________27.7____27.2 A-4-10-J is best for expected averages by 0.55pt. over the flush and is slightly best for Win %s and lowest for Loss %s. So, I'll select the 3-5 to discard. After the 3 cut I'll play Defense to the lead. |

The text book 3-5 throw still applies. Even with the flush. |
