I'll gamble on this arrangement. Hopefully I can get the Aces in back-to-back at a high count.

These cards were my first choice to hold today. Again there will be a learning experience for end game situations!. IMO dealer needs to peg out. |

Good puzzle today-I want the the 2 fives together because pone needs 6 so he might be forced to keep a 5- if pone leads a picture and we 15 it, he might make the count 25- if he does we must play the A and hope for the go, enabling us to play our other ace for 3 and the win-DO NOT make the count 30 with your 5!!!!! |

That is why in live end play some players take their time deciding on keep and pegging strat. Well said Rob. dec |

Trying to peg this out. Golden on an X lead. Decent play on everything else. Typically don't like this many 5s with opp that close to home, but here I think it works.
Daily Scrimmage bad. Hand 6 had a worst case scenario cut after tossing 2-J from 64-73* then it was downhill from there. Wordle 1,501 6/6 β¬β¬β¬β¬β¬ β¬β¬π¨β¬π¨ π¨π¨β¬π¨β¬ β¬π¨π¨π¨β¬ π¨β¬β¬β¬β¬ π©π©π©π©π© Completely stumped after guess 4, went easy mode for 5 and it cleared up just enough to get the answer to emerge. fentesk says: I have my issues with Scrimmage but rarely feel as I did today that this one was a waste of my time. Maybe if you really like grinding to find decisions you'd never make in a game to "beat" the puzzle it has some enjoyment, but as a basic cribbage puzzle, there wasn't much in the way of choices, and instead just getting hammered with cuts. |

I was on the "Yoda" train at first but then thought it through a lot more. What if the pone got stuck with all the combinations of 10? Or, If the pone decides to play a 10 first we can make the 15 for 2. If the pone then plays another 10, then we can play the 6 for 31 for 2 more points. The Aces are just good pegging cards anyway at the end if we can pair them in any way and the get a go. |

The Aces must be kept imo..I kept the 5s π€ Pone has βXβs..I have read Rob M & Sgt. Pegger ..pondering now Eolus619 says: I see in the recent CW Roger Wilson has earned Grandemaster & this now goes along with his Life Master two star ranking ..he has been on the metro Denver cribbage scene for decades ..I can attest to him being a VERY tough opponent and being very successful. He was involved in a live tournament game that was annotated & posted on the Cribbage Forum in 2002. Congratulations Roger πβοΈπ₯..Enjoy following his game.

I kept AA66 thinking for some silly reason that all I needed to do is keep pone from pegging 6. No, I need to peg 5.
Which means I need to pair/15 twice and claim my last card for the win. Or get a run of 3 and go twice. The latter seems unlikely, because the pone is not daft to allow a run. Given that, I'll keep the AA56 and hope one of the 5/6 hit and try to keep my AA for a pair+go opportunity. Or better yet 31 for 4! ryman554 says: The other hold would be AA55 and hope pone has a lot of 10s. I think AA66 would be my third choice hold here, but I don't see much light between AA55 and AA66.

βHoly Endplayβ, Batman! Love logic employed above by Rob. I decided to keep the pair aces with the 5/6 magic 11. Maybe pone had to keep a 5 with three faces, which will allow us to peg th needed 5 with this hold. SallyAnn3 says: OMG!!! You can't get off of your Batman kick LOLOL.I saw something the other day the reminded me of you.

Pegging out is my only option. Maybe I'll cut a Jack! Not too happy keeping A-A-6-6, We'll see what CribPro has to say: "Sorry, you lose you dumb shit, you died at 119 despite paring your aces! Ha, Ha, Ha!" |

Gut feeling was to keep the As, but needing 5 I know I can win against a non-dealer that is stuck keeping X-X-X-X and X-X-X-5 if they don't lead the 5. I know they won't want to keep those hands, but I calculated how often you don't have a choice in the past and it was a larger percentage than I would have guesses (I need to find that analysis again).
Though looking at it while typing this, A-A-5-6 also wins against X-X-X-X and will get 5 against the 5-lead from X-X-X-5, so on further review would probably change my answer to go that way. |

One more week of Hot Summer Weather is in the forecast. I recall the Summer of 1998 when I still lived in Boise, Idaho, when the thermometer registered 111Β°F (44Β°C) in the shade (if you could find any) on July 12, 1998, a Sunday, because the power went out throughout the entire county. π
But I was prepared, as my home had a lovely, built-in swimming pool, and I spent the remainder of that day not far from the refreshing water. It's good to have access to ways to deal with various circumstances that might envelop us. There's nothing quite so tense in Cribbage as an Endgame Battle, and sometimes as the Dealer, we must summon our Pegging Acumen as it suddenly must be pitted against Pone's Discarding Aptitude and Skill while Pone's pending right to tally First Hand Show threatens to defeat us. I no longer have a home or a pool, and while summers along the Niagara River can have warm and muggy weeks, it's interesting to note that throughout its recorded history, the official temperature as registered and archived at the local Buffalo Airport has never exceeded 99Β°F. Not yet, anyway; one of these years! It was 98Β°F on July 9, 2020, and it's not gotten any hotter since that Pandemic Summer. Having dealt ourselves three PAIRS, including Aces, 5 Cards, and 6 Cards, now that we've looked at this interesting arrangement that contains Triple PAIRS, it's difficult to imagine what sort of arrangement we would actually PREFER in such a situation. The best Dealer Hand for Pegging varies widely on whether Pone KNOWS we're in a "race" for the game. At a score of say (46*-52), we assume a Hand such as (4 5 6 7) would peg well, but that's based on the assumption that Pone is not committed to DEFENSE. However, in an Endgame Battle in which not only is Pone aware of our need to peg in order to WIN, but also may not need too many points (or any points at all) to prevail. This appears to be the case today, since Pone is aware that we need to peg Five Holes in order to WIN, and it's very likely that Pone has no burden to peg in order to "cover" the distance. Being the Dealer at a score of (116*-115) can give any Cribbage Player a legitimate case of the Heebie-Jeebies! And if a Jack Cut occurs, we might consider this affliction to be contagious, because after we take "Two Points for His Heels," now we venture forth from a score of (118*-115), and suddenly those Heebie-Jeebies will be experienced by Pone as well. And in addition, from Hole 118, if we can score on Pone's Lead Card, then our odds of winning will instantly shoot up toward 100%, since the Dealer shall ALWAYS peg at least One Hole; and, as it turns out, scoring on the Lead Card does NOT preclude the fact that we will always peg at least that One (more) Hole! π³ Let's 'ditch' the Aces and Toss (A A) today. Pegging Five Holes will NOT be easy, and it's very likely that the "heat" will overtake us, but retaining the (5 5 6 6) Hand probably at least gives us a small chance. After the 9 Card Cut, this may incentivize Pone to lead a 6 Card, and of course we'll PAIR it! π· And if Pone holds the "case" 6 Card, we shall LOSE in what is likely the worst way imaginable, for according to the laws of relativity, Pone believes that WE are stuck "holding the bag" or rather the "case" 6 Card, unable to play it to log (24=12), because after (18-6), Pone is already "swimming" in the cool waters of the Game Hole! Wordle 1,501 2/6 (it took me two seconds to think of Guess One, and then it took me twenty minutes . . . or 600X longer . . . to think of Guess Two, which is the SOLUTION!) β¬β¬π¨π©π¨ π©π©π©π©π© |
