Olap | A tricky hand early game with my wife on holiday. Ended up losing by 10 |

10 cuts( 4 fours,4 sevens,2 sixes) get us to at least 12- the A2 is usually hit or miss but since we are holding one of the threes it is leaning more to miss here |

What Rob said, but to emphasize the A2 usually doesnt make much noise in the crib. Lead the 6 and with this combination generate some pegging |

Can I get a 6-5-4 here for pegs? dec Inushtuk1 says: 6d lead then?

* 3-2-6 combo might bring four pegs.
* Every cut that isn't a 5 or 8 is helpful. (39/46 = 84.7% hit rate). * A-5 seems one of the safer 5-? discards. No joy today in Cribbage Pro. Like mrob2199 said, feeling better tossing A2 while holding a 3 |

With opponent at Hole 43 have to show some restraint... |

Keeping the A23 together. And keeping the 5 out of the opposition’s hands. A6 is a good toss to pone. Assman says: Ummmmm. What? |

Seems like the only choice to me.

A third of the way through and we're looking at being down 10+ nearing the halfway point.
There aren't a ton of good hands to hold here that really move the needle +/-2 points, so we do our best to give us a chance at a big hand. Those 4/6/7 look tasty, so we'll toss the A2 which should do a decent job holding crib down. Cut an X. Ah well, should have held both 5's maybe? |

This is the optimal discard. The K cut leaves me short; so switching to Offense and the 6d lead. Trying to keep the 5-6 as my last two cards if it seems reasonably safe. Inushtuk1 says: Btw; this hand has come up before as Dealer, with Halscrib CLX and Ras disagreeing slightly; and then at the same score, but a much later date, Ras agreeing with Halscrib. If only I had kept better notes. Someone with that DCH book could look it up if so inclined. Inushtuk1 says: I just remember it as being a very interesting puzzle as Dealer, with 4 valid options. Eolus619 says: Hi Mike …based on board position and the then remaining keep it seems pretty straight fwd to discard the A-2 as n/der…Just a fyi..A-2 is not on Ras’s list of 46 lowest avg. n/der balks ..In one of the more mysterious Ras stats ( al least to me) is the fact that both A-3 & 3-7 are on his list ..🤔…A-2 can run into frequent dealer discards like 2-3..A/2 and A/3..but as Gougie00 reminds us ..one can not defend against everything Jazzselke says: I have posted this hand more than once as the dealer, because of the many options. I have landed on 23. Eolus619 says: Dan…Ras has 2/3 on his “approved” sacrifice list when doing so for two or one points

In agreement with all above. Potential for a big hand still exists and I’m not that apprehensive about tossing the touching A-2 as it’s on the “end” and we have some negative delta holding one of the 3s. |

Position is not clearly mentioned above. At this point (36-43*), we want to be at 34-44* to be on par. So, we are very slightly ahead and Dealer is very slightly behind. Yes, we are behind by 7 holes, but we do not need to do anything strange. We need 8 holes to get to our next positional hole, 44*. The A-2 pitch is the best pitch for a good hand for us and a poor crib for Dealer. Anything can happen, but play the odds and hope for a good hand later in the game to try to take the lead. |

At 36-43* playing an Offense strategy for the pegging the dynamic expected averages and win/Loss %s are:
_______________Our Offense___Hand_Pegs_Crib____Total___W6 %____W7 % 3-5-6-6____7.78+1.63+(-4.42)=4.99____23.0____31.1 2-5-6-6____5.91+1.83+(-4.51)=3.23____20.3____28.3 A-3-5-6____5.41+2.07+(-4.43)=3.05____18.4____27.6 2-3-5-6C___4.28+2.87+(-4.44)=2.71____18.2____27.0 Offense______L6 %____L7 % 3-5-6-6_______42.6____51.8 2-5-6-6_______43.0____55.0 A-3-5-6_______43.0____56.3 2-3-5-6C______42.9____56.8 3-5-9-9 is best for expected averages by 1.76pts. and is appreciably best for Win %s and lowest for Loss %s. So I'll select the A-2 to discard. After the K cut I'll lead a 6 and play Optimally (cautious offense): Lead___________Dealer's Pegging Points 6_____________________(-0.87) 3_____________________(-1.36) 5_____________________(-2.64) |
