This is no time to get loose with the toss to the pones crib. I will lead the 3 and take any safely offered points.

Even a great cut holding the 4 card run would still leave us short of the 90 marker so defense will rule the day today-the 3 10 discard should be relatively safe and we have a 3 to lead to hopefully stifle the dealers pegging

Rough cut, not the end of the world. I'm more interested in what we do with the starter card. Anyone leading the 8 to keep max spread? Or is the immediately safer 3 lead the standard here? Today, I'll lead the 8.

I went chalk today and ended up fine. I'm sure if I pegged better there could've been differentiation.

It's too early about giving up a small pair. Onward to victory.

Open with the 8.

Actually 2/3 of game. Who has a good lead here? dec
orvani says: Why tossing the 3C instead the 3S?
dec says: got influenced by the starter card suit. Since I will be leading it might make opponent think a second longer. dec

I don't get why you wouldn't throw the pair.

We are ahead in points. Worth the risk.

Hopefully 10-7 helps keep them off the pace.

For me, it's about how much risk you want to take.Throw the 3's and have good odds of pressing the advantage.

I'm +14. Dealer is -3. Don't let her/him back in this game. There are many more above average Cribs with a small-card and X-card discard, as opposed to a mid-card and X-Card discard. Was I lucky to start with 4 instead of 5; and end up with one more point than the popular choice? Yes. I'll be dealing in great shape assuming my top ten discard panned out. Lead the 3c, fake the flush if safe to do so. Otherwise show the other 3 to conceal the hand. Either way try not to be left with that 3s as last card.
Inushtuk1 says: It's very close between my choice, and 3-7-8-9. If Dealer were two holes further back I would have done the latter.
scottcrib says: Yep. I'm less concerned about 7-10-10 than I am about 3-10-10.

I can see the lure of tossing the 3s but I'm in no mood to help them at all. Let's go D!

OPP now at 67 + 26 = 93 when they deal again. Would like to keep them there or lower with defense. We are ahead but the end game now looks like it might be around 110-110 with me dealing and OPP getting first count.

Good board position puzzle….i fully realize the “26” is an average ..but my goal is for current Pone to be dealing and well within reach of of 121 & current dealer to be short of 111 on what is likely the game’s last hand. so..74-67*..84*-83..100-93*..110*-109

Following this scenario Tossing 3/3 that averages over six is not for me ..i can afford to be short five points when dealing last ( 105) while helping my opponent ( with a pair of 3s) to eventually be @ 111 & counting first is not for me today
Gougie00 says: My opinion is that at our level that its really a "25" average. You aren't going to trick the majority of us with traps or pegging ploys. Easier to count as well. -Greg

Echo, and kept the club in case faking a flush helps a tiny bit.
