| Gougie00 | Is this the time to toss 88 and go for a 12 cut? |

One of the 16 cards that doesn't increase the value of this hand! |

Too early in the game to go too risky-keep the 2 pairs and throw the defensive 2-9( even more so with us holding two fours) |

I concur . A sixteen plus combined for them possible to risky even for a dozen possible. dec |

The pegging might go:
4(4)-X(14)-8(22)-5(27)-4(31/2). Not if the X card is a 10 though. |

Behind, but too close and too early to toss 8-8 and risk digging a deeper hole |

We are behind so no need to help them out. Holding two 4s makes them hitting in the crib less likely. Keep the measley two pair and hopefully live to fight another day.

Just playing my position. One should never "go for it", or say "I'm due for a good hand/cut without a good reason; unless the position calls for it. If the score was 33-43* I would toss the high pair for the better chances for 12 points. But at this score we hedge; waiting for the deck to be in our hands next deal. I still have four cuts (3333) for 12 which would give me the same maximum hand as those who chose to "go for it." Albeit they have more cuts for 12 than I do. The four 7's would give me 10. It's often best for Pone to keep two pairs for 4 points then keep six points, and give away two, by tossing one of the pairs. So be it. Don't fret about it. Inushtuk1 says: I led the 4 from the 4-4-8 Sweet Sixteen as outlined above by James. Does anyone think we should lead the 8? |

At 25-32* playing an Offense strategy for the pegging the dynamic expected averages and Win/Loss %s are:
_______________Our Offense___Hand_Pegs_Crib____Total___W6 %___W7 % 2-4-4-9____8.09+1.24+(-6.09)=3.24____4.6____17.5 4-4-8-8____5.57+1.13+(-4.36)=2.34____2.9____13.2 2-4-8-9____4.43+1.65+(-4.44)=1.64____2.5____12.2 Offense______L6 %___L7 % 2-4-4-9_______15.7___47.5 4-4-8-8_______11.7___46.1 2-4-8-9_______12.6___48.2 2-4-4-9 is 0.90pt. best over 4-4-8-8 and is significantly best for Win %s. Although 4-4-8-8 is considerably lowest for Loss %s, I'll still select the 8-8 to discard. After the Q cut I'll lead a 4 and play Offense: Lead___________Our Pegging Points 4_____________________1.47 9_____________________1.26 2_____________________0.81 |

The problem here is that we're already behind by 7 and prospects are looking grim to rectify that on this hand.
I really don't like the 88 discard. But there's more chances to increase my hand via the cut (I know....) and I do like the pegging better. |

In my game I tossed 88, cut a 9, and pegged my 12 holes. The Crib was a 24. So much for being clever. |
