With an Ace and another 10 card in my hand, 10-4 may not be too costly.

1. 2-9, (2-2?)
2. 6-10
3. 10-J
4. 9-10
5. 3-8
6. 10-Qc, (4-8?)
7. 9-Q, (J-Q?)
8. 6-9

A few hands where I could've discarded differently, but I don't think there's anything too controversial today.

IMO, it isn't necessary to toss 2-2 to opponent.

Priority hand 1 is to push up the board. I took a "Don't rely on the cut" approach today. Only 6 cards in the deck help the alternative more than this hold, and this hold pegs more as n/d. While a 2-2 discard is not ideal, already having the A-4 reduces double run possibilities a little bit.

All chalk discards, but thoughtful.
1. 2d-9 0-0*
2. 6-T
3. T-J 32-24*
4. 9-T 59*-32
5. 3-8
6. 4-8 86*-65
7. 9-Q 97-70*
8. 6-9 105*-88

I thought hand 7 was most interesting, ultimately I discarded with delusions of the potential skunk.

First hand I’ll take the risk with tossing 2s and keep hand with the most points.

Other than a 3 cut nothing makes this more than average. Didn't want to miss out if it happened. Left myself with a poor pegging hand.

Not keeping 6, and giving away even more on average. I don't have a Magic Five; but I do have *three* cards of high pegging value as opposed to two. Let's lead the 10, and leave the little ones intact, and see how it goes.

For those who do not already know, Ras has died.

Here is a link to his obituary:

https://www.lovelandfuneralchapel.com/obituaries/Elmer-George-Rasmussen?obId=45750545

I'll miss him: He always had insight to this game, and humor.

We need JQT to come back - where is he?

I suppose I should comment more now, but I don't consider myself of the same calibre as Ras and JQT.

For the record on today's puzzle, I discarded the 2-2. I tend to be aggressive, usually works for me, though there are times I get burned.
fentesk says: Thank you for sharing the obituary. I hope the ceremony yesterday was a true celebration of a life well lived. Condolences to all his family, friends, and pegging partners.
SallyAnn3 says: No one is the same cailber as RAS was--I'm certainly not. That's why we all share what we'd do, and I have learned tons from those willing to do so. Please comment. All points of view are welcome!
Rosemarie44 says: I am so sorry to hear about Ras. He has brought all of you into my life through DCH.

At 0-0* playing an Offense strategy for the pegging the dynamic expected averages and Win/Loss %s are:

_______________Our
Offense___Hand_Pegs_Crib____Total___W9 %____W10 %
A-2-2-10___6.48+1.76+(-4.25)=3.99____23.1____22.7
A-4-10-10__7.91+1.26+(-6.07)=3.10____24.3____21.3

Offense______L9 %____L10 %
A-2-2-10______36.6____50.9
A-4-10-10_____40.6____53.6

A-2-2-10 is better for expected averages by 0.89pt. and is very slightly better for Win %s and significantly lower for Loss %s. So, I'll select a 4-10 to discard.

After the K cut I'll lead the 10 and play Offense:

Lead___________Our Pegging Points
10____________________2.03
2_____________________1.36
A_____________________0.97
JCM says: Seems I guessed wrong again lol. I'm still inclined, in the early going to give Opp something, if I can get equal or more. Just who I am, I guess..
